description This article presents findings from qualitative research that analyzed male students’ construction of masculinities and the capitalization of the school territory in a rural educational institution located at Ricaurte, province in Boyacá, Colombia. The investigative process followed an ethno-sociological method and generated information from participant observation and the development of interviews with members of the educational community. The generated data was incorporated into discussions and understandings on the demarcation and occupation of the school territory by male students. As a result, it is indicated that, in the daily school dynamics, a model of hegemonic masculinity is organized through game and imposes hierarchical practices and controls on male students. The masculine performativity at school is manifested in the demarcation of a territoriality that symbolizes masculine domination. It was concluded that, in the educational institution studied, the educational order and the gender order are intertwined, giving rise to masculinities that are multiple, heterogeneous and in constant test by other male counterparts.

Este artículo presenta hallazgos de una investigación cualitativa, que analizó la construcción de masculinidades de estudiantes varones y la capitalización del territorio escolar en una institución educativa rural localizada en la provincia Ricaurte de Boyacá, Colombia. El proceso investigativo siguió un método etnosociológico y generó información desde la observación participante y el desarrollo de entrevistas con miembros de la comunidad educativa. Los datos generados se incorporaron a discusiones y comprensiones sobre la demarcación y ocupación del territorio escolar por estudiantes varones. Como resultado, se indica que en la dinámica cotidiana escolar se organiza un modelo de masculinidad hegemónica a través del juego, que impone a los estudiantes varones prácticas y controles de orden jerárquico. La performatividad masculina escolar se manifiesta al demarcar una territorialidad que simboliza la dominación masculina. Se concluyó que, en la institución educativa estudiada, se entrelazan el orden educativo y de género, dando lugar a masculinidades múltiples, heterogéneas y en prueba constante que se vinculan para ejercer dominación sobre los territorios en la escuela.
