Es fundamental tener conocimiento del papel que juegan las políticas públicas en el desarrollo de una sociedad. Este trabajo tiene por objeto estudiar el contexto y el desarrollo de las políticas públicas, los intereses que encierran, el alcance y la efectividad de las mismas, partiendo desde reflexiones hechas sobre los modelos que los teóricos han estructurado para su análisis. Además el trabajo distingue entre las políticas de carácter nacional y las de carácter regional. La conclusión a la que llega el autor está dada con base en la eficacia de las políticas públicas en un país como Colombia.
