Este artículo tiene como objetivo analizar la problemática de composición del cuento Pacto de sangre de Mario Benedetti. Se toman como punto de partida los secretos que va revelando el cuento. Luego se emplean las siguientes nociones para realizar un estudio en cuanto a su elaboración: inicio, desarrollo, final, condición humana, intensidad, tensión, atmósfera, primera historia, segunda historia. Dichos elementos permiten hacer un acercamiento sobre el tratamiento literario del tema central: el abandono de un abuelo y el cariño por su nieto. Finalmente, se presentan unas conclusiones sobre la poética implícita en este relato y elementos para la investigacióncreación, así como el cuento escrito por el autor a partir de este estudio.
