description This article shows part of the result of the use of learning by projects, as a didactic strategy to develop critical thinking in natural sciences from theexecution of a classroom project with the students of the fifth and eighth grades of the Educational Institution “Joaquín González Camargo”. Thisproject was carried out under a qualitative approach, which allowed to review the initial level of critical thinking through a previous questionnaire, following the observation during the implementation of the strategy and the evaluation using the observation guide and the checklist. The group under study was144 students, with whom, once the strategy was applied, it was established within the results that have a level of beginner thinker, being learning byprojects a useful strategy to encourage critical thinking, although there are aspects outside classroom practices that interfere with the process.

El presente artículo muestra parte del resultado del uso del aprendizaje por proyectos, como estrategia didáctica para desarrollar el pensamiento críticoen ciencias naturales a partir de la ejecución de un proyecto de aula con los estudiantes de los grados quinto y octavo de la Institución Educativa IntegradoJoaquín González Camargo. Dicho proyecto se trabajó bajo un enfoque cualitativo, que permitió revisar el nivel inicial de pensamiento crítico a través deun cuestionario previo, siguiendo con la observación durante la implementación de la estrategia y la evaluación usando guía de observación y la lista de chequeo. El grupo objeto de estudio fue de 144 estudiantes, con quienes, una vez aplicada la estrategia, se estableció dentro de los resultados que tienen un nivel de pensador principiante, siendo el aprendizaje por proyectos una estrategia útil para fomentar el pensamiento crítico, aunque existen aspectos ajenos a las prácticas de aula que interfieren con el proceso.
