Summary: | Eng: The main objective of this research was to describe the teaching practice during the transition process, from face-to-face education to Emergency Remote Teaching in the subject of English, in some private schools in Bogotá, Tunja and municipalities of the department of Boyacá in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic during 2020. The methodological perspective was based on the exploratory qualitative approach, in which a survey and a semi-structured interview were used as collection instruments. The categorical content analysis method was used for its analysis. With this research, it was concluded that the teaching practice evidenced a basic level in digital and pedagogical competences for teaching English in non-classroom mode, so it is necessary to review the preparation of these aspects during and after teacher training. On the other hand, among the results, it was found that the greatest challenges for teachers were: planning and evaluating the linguistic skills of speaking and writing. Finally, challenges were found in terms of time management and control of emotions such as stress, anguish, frustration among others during the period of confinement.
